One of our District Council initiatives, Equitable Development was adopted to address the systemic racial inequity perpetuated by the restrictive codes, covenants, and restrictions employed in the early J.C. Nichols communities.
In 1944 J.C. Nichols helped organize ULI’s first council, the Kansas City District Council.
Today, Kansas City District Council acknowledges this history and accepts the challenge to push forward in creating a thriving, sustainable, and equitable community for all.
Our ongoing efforts for change will include our REDi Program and our weekly webinar series A City We Can All Afford.
