District Council Executive Director Named
Katherine Carttar Named Executive Director of ULI Kansas City
The third cohort of our Real Estate Diversity Initiative (REDI) graduated recently and we are thrilled to introduce the Class of 2022! One of our signature DEI initiatives, REDI is a comprehensive, 15-session curriculum designed to advance the real estate careers of women and professionals of color. More than 40 local industry experts serve as instructors or advisors to the students, which is a key component of REDI’s success. We are grateful to the committed member volunteers and community partners who make this program possible.
REDI has been making headlines recently – click the links below to learn more: “Applications Open for Real Estate Diversity Initiative in KC Area” “KC Real Estate Program Looking to Help Women of Color” In October, the Kansas City Business Journal published its annual “20 to Know in Commercial Real Estate,” where an astounding eight of the 20 (40 percent) individuals spotlighted have been involved with ULI KC’s DEI programs, either as an active participant or an instructor. In 2017 ULI Kansas City launched a partnership with Project REAP to introduce minorities to the commercial real estate industry. REAP provided an introductory overview of land use for minorities looking to explore the industry. Participants were awarded a one-year ULI membership following the program. After hosting two cohorts of the REAP program, ULI Kansas City started its local REDI program in 2019. “It was an honor to be recognized by the KC Biz Journal with so many inspiring CRE leaders who are connected to ULI through the REAP/REDI programs,” said ULI Kansas City Executive Director Katherine Carttar. “The connections made within each cohort and with the plentiful industry leaders who volunteer their knowledge is an invaluable experience.” Between REDI and Project REAP, ULI Kansas City is proud to have helped roughly 100 participants expand their knowledge of real estate development and gain valuable industry connections. |
