The Kansas City District Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) is happy to announce the launch of the 2nd annual Etkin Johnson Student Engagement and Mentorship (EJSEM) program. ULI seeks motivated and ambitious graduate-level students focused on real estate, urban planning, architectural and engineering design, construction management and related fields. Each student shall apply expecting to grow in the network of the Kansas City council, and establish themselves in a very fun and rewarding industry. Throughout the program, students can expect to interface with working real estate professionals and learn related industry content that continues to shape the built environment.

Last year, the inaugural program successfully created a platform for students to engage and connect with industry professionals on various levels through both mentorship and programing, provided access to industry resources, insight into issues facing the KC community, and even opened the door to career opportunities for a few students seeking career opportunities.

As we build on the successes and momentum of last year, we will look to continue the format of a required curriculum/schedule, along with key “1 on 1” mentorship meetings. Each program participant (mentee) with be assigned (1) local young and emerging real estate professional (mentor). Mentors and mentees will be challenged to meet off-line to help promote relationship building and guidance. Mentors will coordinate schedule and events/coffee/lunches/etc. with each mentee.
